The Rockwells / Rockwell T James

The Rockwells began as an acoustic country rock duo featuring Ronnie Peel (aka Rockwell T. James) and Bobby Fletcher.

Starting with two acoustic guitars and a love of vocal harmonies, Ronnie and Bobby created a spirited repertoire of country, blues and pop classics. They released an album of their favourites (Cover Story) which peaked at #19 on the Australian Blues and Roots Charts in 2015.

Rockwell T James, AKA Ronnie Peel, was amongst other things a member of the La De Da's (although not at the time of Gonna See My Baby Tonight as the credits state), and Thunderclap Newman.

His resume reads like the history of Oz Rock – Missing Links, Britain’s Thunderclap Newman, La De Dahs, Rockwell T. James and the Rhythm Aces, Scattered Aces with Rose Tattoo’s Pete Wells and Chris Turner, and of course Stevie Wright / John Paul Young and the All Star Band.

The only album Ronnie released was the brain child of Garth Porter, who enlisted the help of Sherbet, Kevin Borich, Ted Mulry and Cheetah to record the album. Essentially it was a Sherbert record with Daryl Braithwaite singing, although Ronnie contributed backing vocals. Ronnie continued to play in John Paul Young’s All Star band, and still did until his passing in 2020.
